China's export of power tools has been recognized

On the 13th, the reporter learned from China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) that CNAS has been continuously conducting technical capability evaluation in the field of power tools industry, applying conformity assessment tools to provide professional technical support for the development of power tools industry, and actively promoting the construction of power tools industry testing system. In recent years, the annual growth rate of such laboratories recognized by CNAS has reached more than 10%.

Power tools play an important role in China's export trade. In recent years, China's power tools have become more intelligent, environmentally friendly, and high value-added.  Magnetic drills, smart lawn mowers, and intelligent pool cleaning robots are particularly popular among European and American households. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, China's power tool industry growth and exports have remained relatively stable.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 80% of trade involves conformity assessment activities. In the early years, the main problem faced by Chinese power tool companies in exporting their products was technical barriers to trade caused by differences in standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures. This has also become one of the driving forces behind the growth in the number of CNAS accreditations applied for by export-oriented power tool companies' laboratories (one-party laboratories).

As a member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), CNAS has signed 15 international accreditation multilateral mutual recognition agreements, covering 116 countries/economies, accounting for more than 96% of the global economic aggregate. Through the quadrennial international peer review, CNAS has maintained its mutual recognition qualification for accreditation system. Relying on the international accreditation mutual recognition system, the laboratory testing results of electric tool enterprises recognized by CNAS will receive wider international recognition.

Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province, is known as the "Capital of Electric Tools in China", and at its peak, it was said that "5 out of every 10 electric tools produced worldwide were made in Yongkang". Yongkang City supports enterprises to adopt recognized advanced quality management models to promote enterprise quality improvement. In 2018, the city issued "Several Opinions on Deeply Carrying out the 'Made in China 2025' Zhejiang Action Pilot Demonstration to Comprehensively Revitalize the Real Economy", and awarded 200,000 yuan to the enterprise laboratory that passed CNAS accreditation for the first time.

CNAS revealed that it will continue to pay attention to the development of the electric tool industry, actively improve the accreditation system, promote key technological breakthroughs, carry out relevant scientific research, investigation and training, and provide technical support for relevant research institutions and enterprises in the electric tool industry in China to continuously improve their quality level and enhance their international competitiveness.
